PROJECT HOMELESS CONNECT
Across NC, communities are mobilizing for Project Homeless Connect, a one day event designed to connect homeless individuals with the community services. Gastonia, Asheville, Winston-Salem and Chapel Hill, Fayetteville, Raleigh and Durham have already held events serving thousands of individuals. In several communities, organizers relied on CHIN for customized intake forms and data entry assessments to help them gather client information. Customized training guides were also developed for volunteers charged with assisting with data collection. Read about Asheville's Success
Gastonia also had a success story to share. Their efforts were featured in the March newsletter of the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness. According to the ICH "137 community volunteers escorted the more than 200 consumers to available services that included housing assistance, clothing, haircuts, legal services, a bag of groceries, access to Jobline services through the NC Employment Security Commission, and assistance from Gaston County Vocational Rehabilitation.
