CHIN is collaborating with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services on a homeless mental health housing initiative by providing case management software, customized assessments and reports to their newly formed housing support teams(HSTs). According to the NC DHHS HSTs " provide housing support coordination services to targeted homeless individuals and families." There are three sites located in Durham, Asheville and Greensboro/High Point. Each of these sites are using ServicePoint for data collection and Bowman System's Advanced Reporting Tool (ART) for specialty reporting. The capacity of CHIN and ServicePoint complement the field work of HST staff. With this increased capability HSTs are hopeful that they can realize their goals of "increasing organizational housing support coordination capacity and knowledge and documenting the cost benefit of housing support coordination services to public systems."
The housing support teams concept is a new to North Carolina so implementation and end user training has been an immediate priority. To assist HST personnel, CHIN has developed customized training materials and client consent reference guides especially for the housing support teams initiative.
